Shihan Erik Hofmeister began training in 1992 under Kyoshi Gerry Blanck in Pacific Palisades, CA. He earned his Shodan in 1996, his Nidan in 2001, his Sandan in 2009, and his Yondan in 2013. He was promoted to Shihan (“quality instructor”) in 2017. He also holds the rank of 3rd degree black belt in Kyuki-Do, 1st degree black belt in hapkido, and color belt ranks in the International Okinawan Kobudo Organization and Kyokushinkai.
Shihan Hofmeister founded two dojo- Pullman Yoshukai in Washington and Athens Yoshukai in Georgia. The Athens dojo celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2017 and is continuing under the direction of Sensei Hali Serrian.
Shihan Hofmeister is finishing a Masters of Science degree on Sport Pedagogy and enjoys teaching and doing swing dancing.
